Release subscriptions

Who can subscribe, how, the free cap of 5, and how Star / ingest matter

Purpose

After you subscribe, Starcat polls that repo’s GitHub Releases, updates the timeline, and can send system notifications. Free accounts can subscribe to 5 repos.

How to subscribe

1. Open detail: the repo must be starred or ingested
2. Tap Subscribe to Releases
3. The first time, macOS may ask for notification permission; allow it if you want banners

Starred	Yes
Not starred, ingested	Yes
Neither	No

If the association is gone, a historical subscription may remain but polling pauses → Background refresh.

Unsubscribe from detail or the subscription list to free a slot. Manage from the sidebar Release timeline or Activity → Release.

Notes

No Star and no ingest means you cannot subscribe.

Hitting 5 on free is gated. Drop a low-priority repo or upgrade Pro.
