Local-first, BYOK, telemetry off; the legal text lives on the site

Purpose

Where data stays by default, and when it leaves this Mac. The legal text is starcat.ink/privacy.

Local-first: tags, notes, status stay on this Mac; no sale of personal data; no ad tracking; no GitHub password; AI keys in Keychain; notes are not used to train an “official model”.

BYOK traffic goes to the configured provider. External search sends queries only when enabled. Share cards / links need an explicit action.

Anonymously contribute public Star data lives in Settings → General → Privacy and recommendations and is off by default. When on, a successful full Stars sync may silently report public repo IDs and available starred-at times to improve recommendations. No private repos, tags, notes, browsing, or account identity. A random anonymous id is used. Failures do not block sync. First-run may ask once; Not now keeps it off.
