# Data import

## What to do now

1. Sign in to Starcat with GitHub and sync Stars first (repo list is safe)
2. Rebuild important tags / notes by hand, or keep exports from the old tool until import ships
3. If you already have Starcat data locally, [back up](/data-privacy/backup) before switching Macs
