# Batch operations

> Multi-select workflow; Manage vs Explore action differences

## When to use

* Clear a large Untagged backlog: filter, then batch tag
* Batch ingest repos marked **Using**
* Star / ingest multiple ranked items from Discover

## Standard workflow

  <Step title="Narrow scope">Pick a sidebar category + [filters](/search/filters) / list search.</Step>
  <Step title="Multi-select">Toolbar → Multi-select → check repos.</Step>
  <Step title="Run action">Choose an action on the bottom bar and confirm.</Step>
  <Step title="Finish">Usually exits multi-select automatically with a toast summary; or press Esc to cancel.</Step>

| Tags                             | Append; does not remove existing tags | Free tag limit: 20                                       |
