# AI tag recommendations

> Suggestions, confirm-before-write, and free tag limits

## Behavior

AI recommends tags from README / context (often 3–8; confidence may be shown).

**Nothing is written until you confirm**—part of Starcat’s conservative AI policy. See [AI overview](/ai-features/overview).

## Entry points

* Tag recommendations in the detail AI panel
* [Auto Tidy](/ai-features/auto-tidy) batch recommendations (still subject to confirm / action settings)

## Limits

The free tier allows at most **20** tags. If you are at the cap:

1. Delete unused tags, or
2. Upgrade to [Pro](/subscribe/plan-comparison)

## Tips

* Define your naming convention first, then let AI align to it
* Subtract from recommendations to avoid tag sprawl
